Building a new online presence for a local glass icon

Simon Lewis Wards is a sculptor based in Auckland, New Zealand. He primarily works with ceramics and cast glass and is best known for his playful interpretations of iconic New Zealand candy nostalgia. Additionally, Simon's art extends into fine art pieces of greater complexity, with works showcased at Auckland galleries and public spaces.

South collaborated with Simon to enhance his online presence by creating a high-performing e-commerce web store. The strategy was to bring the volume up in every way across the new website's aesthetics and functionality to reflect the personality of Simon and his art. We chose to emphasise large display type and messaging to drive product sales, which were complemented by a bespoke art direction campaign designed and shot to promote his products in various thematic settings. These elements combined to create stunning collateral that could be used in his user-friendly yet personalised online shop for purchasing products. Furthermore, the website extends to include information about his public art installations and high-end fine art pieces, providing a platform for clients to engage with and make inquiries. It also offers a space for Simon to share his appreciation of the art community, promoting stories through his unique perspective.
